Daffodils are one of the first flowers to bloom in spring, adding bright colour to the garden just as the growing season begins. Beyond their cheerful appearance, they offer several benefits that can help support other plants in your garden.

One of the most useful advantages of daffodils is their natural resistance to pests. The bulbs and foliage contain compounds that make them toxic and unappealing to animals such as deer, rabbits, and rodents. Because of this, planting daffodils around more vulnerable plants can help discourage these pests from entering certain areas of the garden.

Daffodils also benefit pollinators early in the season. When they bloom, there are often very few flowers available, so their nectar and pollen provide an important early food source for bees and other insects. Supporting these pollinators helps the wider garden, as many other plants rely on them later in the season.

In addition, daffodils are low-maintenance and return year after year, making them a reliable companion plant. By protecting nearby plants from pests and supporting early pollinators, they quietly contribute to a healthier and more balanced garden.
