Site preparation

 

The first step is to get down to bare earth by removing the lawn if present. We remove any rubble, stumps or roots contained in the subsoil.

 

We add topsoil to change the contours of the site until the final level is achieved removing bumps and hollows. Generally the lawns are perfectly level however sometimes it is necessary to have a slight slope to improve drainage.

 

If clods are present they are broken up as necessary. Next boards are used to consolidate the soil until the required tilth has been achieved.

 

Laying Turf

 

Premium turf is used from our reputable supplier contains no pests or diseases and includes desirable lawn species such as ryegrass/fescues. It has a good soil layer with plenty of white roots and a consistent uniform thickness.

 

The first row of turves ensures that the correct level is maintained. Pressing the turves closely together the second row begins with a half sized turf. The edges of the turves in adjacent lines are staggered like brickwork. Finally using thick boards the turves are tampered in ready for watering.
