• Feeding

The purpose of fertilising is too kill moss, weeds whilst making the grass look greener and building up a resistance to drought an diseases. Our fertilisers stimulate growth and build up root systems.

 

Depending on lawn conditions in spring a weed and feed fertiliser is applied and again in late summer. An Autumn fertiliser assists early season growth, improves wear resistance and discourages weed and moss invasion.

• Scarifying

Thatch can encourage disease and inhibits the thickening of the sward which takes place in Autumn. Scarifying is essential to eradicate thatch which also stimulates growth of side-shoots/runners and is often used after fertilising.

 

• Aeration

Holes are created so that air channels and water are penetrated beneath the lawns surface. This helps to alleviate compaction which damages the grass. Compaction removes oxygen which is vital for root development and draws water away. Removal means water can now access the roots in drought conditions and increase thatch in winter.

 

• Over-seeding

During the season the condition and the quality of the grass can deteriorate. Overseeding is beneficial for the appearance and health of the lawn. It is a process of scattering seeds onto a lawn to thicken the sward, improving its quality and appearance. The new seeds which increase density helps to remove weed invasion

 

• Top Dressing - This annual Autumn application is a mixture of peat loam and sand. Its purpose is to fill minor hollows which have developed over the season and increase the soil layer.

 

Before application it is best to scarify the lawn when thatch is present. Aerating the lawn before top dressing will relive compaction. Applying the top dressing evenly over the surface to fill depressions and remove bumps in the lawn.
